Our removal process
- Step 01
Site visit and fixed quote
Within the week in Auckland. We confirm the material class, access and disposal route and give you one price.
- Step 02
Notification and control plan
For licensed work we lodge the WorkSafe notification (five working days’ notice for most jobs) and issue the asbestos removal control plan.
- Step 03
Controlled removal
Enclosures or wet methods as the class requires, negative-pressure units, decontamination unit, double-bagged waste to a licensed facility. Air monitoring throughout Class A work.
- Step 04
Clearance and hand-back
Independent visual clearance and air test, certificate issued, site handed back clean.
What asbestos removal costs
Garage or shed roof (Class B, to 40 m²): $1,500-$4,000, one day on site. House roof or full ceiling strip: $6,000-$18,000, two to four days. Commercial, industrial or Class A: quoted after survey and programmed.
Price depends on material class, area, height and access, whether the building is occupied, and disposal volume. Ranges are GST-exclusive guides only; your quote is fixed.

Live camera monitoring on Class A removals
On Class A jobs SES runs a portable wifi camera system inside the enclosure: up to eight battery-powered cameras streaming to a ruggedised monitor outside the work zone.
The supervisor and client can watch the removal live without entering the enclosure, and the recording sits in the completion pack alongside the air-monitoring results and clearance certificate.

How much does asbestos removal cost in NZ?
Small Class B jobs start around $1,500; a full house roof $6,000-$18,000; Class A and commercial work is quoted after a survey. See the cost guide above - every SES quote is fixed.
Do I have to move out during removal?
For Class B external work, no. For internal ceiling or floor removal you will need to stay out of the enclosed rooms; whole-house vacating is only needed for large friable jobs. We tell you at quote stage.
How do you dispose of asbestos?
Double-bagged or wrapped, labelled, and transported to a licensed landfill. You receive the disposal docket in your completion pack.
Do you notify WorkSafe?
Yes. Licensed removal must be notified at least five working days before it starts (less in emergencies). We lodge it and give you the reference.
Can you re-roof or rebuild afterwards?
We hand over a cleared site the same day. Roof replacement, painting and repairs can be arranged through SES Property Maintenance.
