What asbestos work costs in New Zealand
Small Class B jobs such as a garage roof or a bathroom floor typically run from $1,500 to $5,000. Larger removals, Class A friable materials and occupied buildings are priced after a survey.
The price is driven by material type, area, access, whether the building is occupied and disposal volume. Every SES quote is fixed before work starts - no hourly surprises.

Does my building have asbestos?
If it was built or renovated before 2000 it may. New Zealand imported asbestos products until 2016. Common places: textured ceilings, fibre-cement cladding, vinyl floor tiles, roofing and pipe lagging. A sample test confirms it.
What is the difference between Class A and Class B?
Class A is friable asbestos that crumbles and releases fibres easily; Class B is bonded material like fibre-cement sheet. Class A requires a Class A licence and stricter controls. SES holds both.
Can I remove asbestos myself?
Homeowners may remove up to 10 m² of non-friable asbestos, but disposal, PPE and decontamination rules still apply and mistakes contaminate the whole house. Anything larger, or any friable material, legally requires a licensed removalist.
How long does removal take?
A garage roof is usually one day. A house re-roof or ceiling strip two to four days. Commercial projects are programmed after the survey; we work nights and weekends to keep occupied buildings running.
Do you provide the paperwork for council or insurers?
Yes - survey report, removal control plan, air monitoring results, disposal dockets and clearance certificate, in one pack.
